"There are only two lasting bequests we can hope to give our children. One of these is roots; the other, wings." ~Hodding Carter
Learn How to Learn
Our Roots program is an individualized tutoring program that focuses on learning how to learn. It is for any student in grades 5-12 who struggles to complete assignments, study for quizzes and tests, break down the steps of larger projects, stay focused at home, and feel successful in school. In the Roots program we focus on skills that include executive functioning, habit-building, effective studying, time management, as well as reading, writing, and math.
In the 2025-2026 school year, we will have both a DAY Roots program and an AFTERSCHOOL Roots program.

Roots Day Program

Students enrolled in TEC Connections Academy (TECCA - Massachusetts' free virtual school) are welcome to attend their virtual classes and complete work at our welcoming learning space in Norwood from 9:30 AM - 1:30 PM Monday through Friday. A Wildewood tutor will be present during this time to monitor learning and support students through obstacles. While TECCA can seem isolating and challenging to many students, Wildewood will help provide enrichment and guidance to ensure that students get as much out of the TECCA program as possible while continuing to grow and reach their goals.
Roots Afterschool Program

Students enrolled in public or private school during the day are welcome in our learning centers in Norwood and Medfield any time from 4:00 to 7:00 pm Monday - Thursday and Friday, Saturday, or Sunday by appointment.
In the Roots program, we begin every session with a short conversation and mini-lesson on one particular academic skill. We then provide support for students as they complete homework, study for quizzes and tests, and complete essays and projects. With this structure, students feel both support and independence at the same time.

We also provide access to "Roots Repair" tutors who are certified math and reading teachers. We will connect our Roots students with these tutors as needed to hone their skills in math and reading.
