"Operation Keep Learning"
What?
We will connect out-of-school teachers with out-of-school students in these 1-hour interactive classes that meet virtually via Zoom. Classes are taught on a week-to-week basis (we know that schedules keep changing) and they will be fun, interesting, and responsive to students’ needs. See below for class details and for specific courses offered.
Why?
Our students want to keep learning! The extended time at home may at first feel fun for some students, however, quickly our students will want structure and they will miss school. “Operation Keep Learning” classes will ensure that students remain connected to a class of learners and a passionate teacher. Our classes will help ensure that students do not fall behind on important grade-level skills.
Who?
Our teachers will be certified to teach the particular grade level or subject. Our teachers will bring their energy and enthusiasm into your home and connect with your student(s) via online learning.
When?
Class times will vary and will be offered one week at a time. We are now accepting registration for the week of March 30 and April 6. Please see the schedule below.
How?
In order to participate in a class, you will register for a free Zoom account.

Sample Hour Lesson
Grade levels would meet in a separate virtual classroom and generally follow a structure like the following:
-
Morning Welcome (5 minutes): Teacher welcomes all students by asking them an engaging question and listening to their unique answers.
-
Reading (5-10 minutes): Teacher reads a story, showing pictures over the camera
-
Writing/Drawing (15 minutes): Students respond to a specific writing prompt with drawing and/or writing, depending on grade level. Students subsequently share part of their work.
-
Math (20-25 minutes): Teacher provides grade-level math problems via Google Classroom worksheets. Students work to complete the problems before the teacher provides support to ensure accuracy.
-
Closing Bell (5 minutes): Teacher assigns light homework. Students ask any questions.
